The wild life of the musher

Be a musher for a day or two and live a more than real dog sled expedition. This is the perfect destination to live your dream!

This itinerary will lead you to Saint-Just-de-Bretenières, along the American frontier. Max, owner of Chalets & Villégiature Daaquam, welcomes you in what he calls his « Little Club med » where a dog sled expedition and many more activities awaits you.

DAY 1

Upon your arrival at Chalets & Villégiature Daaquam , you’ll first visit the kennel and meet with the Huskies herd. You’ll receive a 15 minutes formation to learn how to guide a dog sled. Then, as the real musher you now are, you’ll put the harnesses on the dog and off you go for the real adventure!

The dog sled ride will give you the opportunity to relive the expeditions of yore by exploring the wild nature. Along the trails, you’ll be following the steps of the best mushers of the world in a white and wild paradise among the beautiful and peaceful Appalachian forest.

When you’ll be done with your lunch in the middle of the woods, the expedition will resume. With a firm grip on the reins, your cheeks blushing from the cold wind, you’ll be going through the forest of the Parc des Appalaches and around many frozen lakes and rivers. At the end of the afternoon, you’ll take the harnesses off the dogs and you’ll sit around the fire pit, reliving this unique adventure while sipping a nice cup of hot chocolate.

DAY 2

On the second day, let’s discover the amazing winter wilderness of the Appalachian forest while riding a horse! The enterprise has acquired an accreditation from Aventure Écotourisme Québec, which assures you of a high quality and safe service, respectful of the animals and the environment. You’ll be joined by a Équi-Québec certified guide.

And while you’re there, why not go ice fishing, snowmobile or winter quad: there’s something for everyone!
