« In the heart of the Vieux-Montmagny : history and architecture » interactive circuit
In this interactive experience, you’ll discover the Montmagny downtown’s history throughout its historical buildings and important figures. The texts are combined with pictures, videos and sound bites to give the user a memorable experience.
Available on a mobile application, this itinerary constitute a 3 km walk and about an hour and a half of recorded information. It’s ideal for families and little groups who want to wander while discovering the downtown’s history.
« Heritage 350th anniversary »
With a dozen of terminals located throughout the city, the historical route « Heritage 350th anniversary » summarize the main locations, characters and events that marked the city’s history. From the military camp to the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Street, passing by the Manoir Couillard-Dupuis and the Rivière du Sud, you’ll relive city’s key milestones by reading the numerous interpretive panels.
Geo-rally about the maritime patrimony
Based on the popularity of geocaching, this geo-rally proposes a 5km circuit with 16 geocaches, both real and virtual. As the majority of the geocaches are hidden in the same neighborhood, the participants are getting into a real treasure hunt.
With a duration of about 2 hours, the geo-rally is really accessible and can be completed with family and friends, or even by yourself. This activity is the perfect mix between learning about Montmagny’s maritime patrimony and having fun in plain nature.
Saint-François-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud
In the heart of Saint-François-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud, you’ll find an historical and patrimonial site, recognized as such by the provincial government. The Pierre-Laurent-Bédard building is the oldest construction of the municipality. A ceremony has been held in 2013 to mark its 250th anniversary. By its architectural standards, the presbytery has been part of the constructions that has been built under the French regime.
Saint-Pierre-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud
Saint-Pierre-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud is one of the oldest municipality of the Côte-du-Sud region. You’ll discover many heritage houses, historical buildings and an impressive collection of liturgical objects in the old church that has been built in 1785.
Berthier-sur-Mer
Built in 1859 with the help and generosity of the parishioners, the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption’s church is located in the heart of Berthier-sur-Mer. The acoustic quality of the wooden church is highly valued by the artists. The church can also count on a Casavant pipe organ that all the citizens are very proud of.
Cap-Saint-Ignace
Built on the soil of five ancient lordships that has been conceded in 1672 by the French Intendants Frontenac and Jean Talon, Cap-Saint-Ignace still counts on some vestiges which all mark important milestones of its history. The Moulin Vincelotte (1690) is one of the oldest building of the Côte-du-Sud region. The Manoir Gamache (1745) and the Moulin Ouellet (1823) are two important pieces of the municipality patrimony. The architecture of the Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola’s church is absolutely amazing and is worth a visit. With its impressive central arch, the church also have a Casavant pipe organ that has been bought in 1918.
