Discover Montmagny and the islands

The region of Montmagny and the Islands is nestled between the St. Lawrence River and the Appalachian Mountains. It is also located only 45 minutes from Quebec City. Montmagny and the Islands, is also about a trendy downtown, one of the most scenic archipelagos and many local products to taste.

Montmagny and the Islands bear witness to a rich historical and cultural heritage. Further south, the Appalachian Park is the perfect destination for outdoo lovers. Hiking, boating, horseback riding and many other activities are offered. The region of Montmagny and the Islands is also a paradise for birdwatchers. More than 200 species have been listed in the archipelago of  Isle-aux-Grues.

The charming little village of Isle-aux-Grues hides many stories and traditions all set amidst breathtaking vistas. Its stunning landscapes evoke sweet memories and allow you to feel the fresh air. Its particular culture makes it a perfect destination for relaxation and culinary delights.

Grosse-Ile

Grosse-Ile is also a surprising attraction with its particular history and the thousands of immigrants who have stayed there. Called « quarantine island », it was the gateway to Canada during the nineteenth century. Thousands of immigrants, mostly Irish, had to stay on the island to avoid spreading diseases contracted during transatlantic crossing. Needless to say, many of them never recovered.

The Appalachian Park

The Appalachian Park is the perfect place for outdoor activities. Just 30 minutes south of the town of Montmagny, it is also one of the only parks in the province of Quebec where dogs are welcome!
